Accounting Policy and Research Leader (LS25947)

Our client is a successful financial services company that is currently looking for an Accounting Policy and Research Leader to join their team. This position will lead the research and evaluation of pending accounting and reporting developments. The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will lead the research of new and proposed GAAP and statutory accounting guidance issued by various regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards during the exposure draft period, interpret impacts to the organization, and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare technical accounting position papers and work with external auditors through the review process.
  • Partner with appropriate financial management division and business line associates to implement new accounting and reporting guidance.
  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting rules and advise appropriate internal contacts on implementation.
  • Lead educational session within the organization on the status and potential impacts of pending accounting developments.
  • The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will participate in special projects as necessary.

Job Requirements

The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will have 10+ years’ related experience; public accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience in the insurance or financial services industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles as they apply to accounting systems, operations and financial statements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel.
  • The Accounting Policy and Research Leader will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • CPA and/or pursuing CPA certification preferred.
