The Assistant Controller will be responsible for planning and directing accounting activities for the largest division of the company.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • The Assistant Controller will assist with preparing reports to summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Assist the Controller in developing accounting department structure, managing accounting staff and accounting functions including general ledger, fixed assets, job cost, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close process.
  • Assist with percentage-of-completion analysis for all jobs and the complete and accurate job cost reporting at month-end to support Operations cost-to-complete forecasts driving cost-in-excess/billing-in-excess WIP journal entries.
  • Review and assist in preparing account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Provide leadership on design and implementation of operational accounting procedures in conjunction with the company’s strategic plan, policies, and GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/weekly cash flow projections for the company.
  • Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
  • The Assistant Controller will perform other related duties and ad hoc reports as assigned.

Job Requirements

The Assistant Controller will possess the following:


•        The Assistant Controller will have 8+ years’ applied accounting experience. Experience in a manufacturing or construction industry environment a plus.

•        Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role required.

•        Demonstrated knowledge of balance sheet, P&L, cash flow statements, job costing and percentage of completion concepts.

•        Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.

•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

•        The Assistant Controller will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree preferred.

•        CPA a plus.
