Controller (KK26036)

Our client is a construction services company that is currently looking for a Controller to join their team.  This person will be very hands-on working with all departments and be a key asset to the senior leadership group by developing and implementing people and process improvements enabling the company to continue to grow.  The company boasts a team-oriented culture and provides its’ employees with the tools and training necessary to succeed.

The Controller will develop financial well-being of the organization by managing the financial and administrative operations of the company.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Controller will have direct responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company.
  • Prepare reports to summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Provide and direct procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Appraise the organization’s financial position and issue periodic financial and operating reports. Evaluate functional areas for process improvement.
  • Exercises accounting control to insure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized without proper approval.
  • Manage payroll and other human resources activities.
  • Develop and implement financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage and lead a team including hiring qualified personnel, training, providing direction, giving frequent performance-related feedback and monitoring results.
  • Participate in quarterly Board of Director meetings and present as necessary.
  • Establish formal internal control policies and procedures.
  • The Controller will work on special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

The Controller will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • The Controller will have 12+ years’ progressive experience; public accounting and/or construction industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership strength and process improvement skills.
  • Skilled in budgeting and planning and responsible for the annual budget process.

•        Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.

•        Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office products.

  • The Controller will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA preferred.
