State Tax Manager

The State Tax Manager will be responsible for state and local tax compliance, reporting, audit and planning functions.  The Tax Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:



RESPONSIBILITIES  



  • The State Tax Manager will ensure the company is in compliance with all state & local tax laws.

  • Prepare/review state corporate income and franchise tax returns.

  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return.

  • Prepare/review extension requests and quarterly estimated income tax payments.

  • Oversee state income tax audits.

  • Assist with tax planning initiatives, including legal entity restructuring and state effective rate planning.

  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient tax reporting.

  • Manage, mentor and develop tax personnel.

  • The State Tax Manager will perform other tax projects and analysis as needed.

Job Requirements

The State Tax Manager will possess the following:



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  • The State Tax Manager will have 6+ years’ experience; public accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with state for-profit tax compliance and fixed asset responsibilities. Federal tax experience a plus.

  • Thorough technical knowledge of US tax rules and accounting for income taxes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and experience with tax software.

  • The State Tax Manager will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax. MST preferred.

  • CPA strongly preferred.
